Thursday’s announcement by a Kent, page WA attorney that he has ended his federal lawsuit against the City of Seattle’s parks gun ban does not affect the on-going state-court case filed jointly by the Second Amendment Foundation and National Rifle Association.
SAF Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb noted Friday morning that there has been some confusion about the two cases. SAF and NRA were joined by the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, website like this the Washington Arms Collectors and five individual plaintiffs in their lawsuit, which found the city’s parks gun ban to be in violation of state law. That case has been appealed by the city.
“The federal case, as plaintiff Bob Warden noted in his statement, has never been connected to our case,” Gottlieb clarified. “The SAF/NRA case, which was filed first and has already won in King County Superior Court, remains very much alive and we are confident that we will prevail in the state court of appeals. -[source]
A shining moment for California’s Gun owners who flexed their collective power and made their voices heard!
DEFEATED:
- AB 1810(Feuer) – Registration of Rifles and Shotguns
- AB 1934 (Saldana) – Handgun Open Carry Prohibition
- AB 2358 (De Leon) – Ammunition Registration
All three of these bills posed a fundamental threat to the rights of gun owners. And there was no room for compromise any one of the bills.
It was a fight down to midnight, treat but in the late hours of August 31, AB 1810, AB 1934, and AB 2358 were DEFEATED!
This is a huge win for gun owners. Thank you to all members who took time to contact members of legislature and voice their strong opposition to these bills. Your collective voice was heard loud and clear at the capitol. You stoked the fire against AB 1810, AB 1934, and AB 2358 and it paid off!-[source]
The California Senate rejected a bill Monday that would have made it illegal to carry unloaded guns in public, but lawmakers will give the vote one more try.
Monday’s 20-16 vote fell one short of the majority needed, but the Senate will reconsider the measure Tuesday.
The bill, AB1934, was introduced after a series of demonstrations by gun-rights organizations during which they encouraged participants to openly carry unloaded weapons. California law lets gun owners carry a rifle or handgun in a holster if it is not loaded.
The legislation would make it a misdemeanor to openly carry a handgun in any public place.-[source]
Mexican President and Chicago Mayor call for end of U.S. Sovereignty.
A storm of liberal anti-gun opinion is swelling to force international anti-gun policies on American citizens as NAGR continues the fight to protect the Second Amendment from international gun grabbers.
Recently we reported that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Obama Administration are pushing for Senate ratification of the United Nations’ “Small Arms Treaty.” The National Association for Gun Rights has taken the lead on stopping this end-run around the Constitution by contacting millions of Americans about this impending threat to their liberties, and working with principled leaders in Washington, D.C. to build a bulwark against the treaty.-[source]
Facing strong opposition from U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe and others, approved a key federal agency denied a petition Friday seeking a ban on lead ammunition used by hunters.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, however, said it would continue to review another section of the petition on the use of lead in fishing tackle.
In denying the request on banning lead ammunition, EPA said the Toxic Substances Control Act does not give the agency the authority needed to address that issue. -[source]
In another sideways attempt to remove the availability of firearms and ammunition, the Feds are considering a ban on lead bullets. – [source]
Several environmentalist groups led by the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) are petitioning the EPA to ban lead bullets and shot (as well as lead sinkers for fishing) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). Although EPA is barred by statute from controlling ammunition, CBD is seeking to work farther back along the manufacturing chain and have EPA ban the use of lead in bullets and shot because non-lead alternatives are available. But here’s the catch: the alternatives to lead bullets are more expensive. A ban on the sale of lead ammunition would force hunters and sport shooters to buy non-lead ammunition that is often double the cost of traditional lead ammunition. A box of deer hunting bullets in a popular caliber could be upwards of $55.
The rush is on to ban private firearm sales at gun shows under the guise of referring to these sales as a “loophole.”
Federal law does not currently restrict private firearm transfers between law-abiding citizens whether they take place at home or at a gun show, prescription and NAGR is taking a stand to keep it that way.
As you no doubt already know, dosage Michael Bloomberg and his millionaire cronies are pouring their money into a media blitz through their anti-Second Amendment group, Mayor’s Against Illegal Guns.-[source]
With the fall hunting season fast approaching, view the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under Lisa Jackson, who was responsible for banning bear hunting in New Jersey, is now considering a petition by the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) – a leading anti-hunting organization – to ban all traditional ammunition under the Toxic Substance Control Act of 1976, a law in which Congress expressly exempted ammunition. If the EPA approves the petition, the result will be a total ban on all ammunition containing lead-core components, including hunting and target-shooting rounds. The EPA must decide to accept or reject this petition by November 1, 2010, the day before the midterm elections.-[source]

“M1 for Vets” Evolvement:
Nonprofit organizations are started by truly dedicated people. Not all non-profits survive the years of difficult work to become great organizations. The great ones are started by people who feel passion from their hearts and are able to direct and focus that passion and turn it into a great organization. “M1 for Vets” is on its way to becoming one of the great ones.
The idea of “M1 for Vets” came forth from a conversation JJ Oshea and fellow friends had while talking about how they wanted to give something back to our wounded war heroes. These kinds of thoughts come from our hearts and provide the push necessary to accomplish feats beyond our expectations.
In a short three year period, JJ and friends have launched their campaign and given M1 rifles to more than 160 wounded war heroes. This effort is an ongoing process and continues to grow because of the diligence of local shooting clubs around the country desiring to assist “M1 for Vets” and its efforts.-[source]
