Following continued attacks by anti-hunting groups to ban traditional ammunition (ammunition containing lead-core components) under the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) of 1976, look Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) earlier today introduced legislation to clarify the longstanding exemption of ammunition under the act. The bill is being championed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for the firearms, prostate ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry.
“We applaud and thank Sen. Lincoln for introducing this commonsense measure today,” said NSSF President and CEO Stephen L. Sanetti. “This bill will help to ensure that America’s hunters and shooters can continue to choose for themselves the best ammunition to use.”-[source]
Kennesaw, prostate Georgia, approved is Everytown, USA: a mixture of old wooden bungalows and cookie-cutter subdivisions, of seventh-generation locals and Mexican immigrants. Its quaint, cobbled historic centre is lush, with low-hanging trees and chirping cicadas. The civil war museum tells the history of the local Confederate fight against the Yankees. At the suburban malls on a humid Saturday afternoon locals vie to park their SUVs as close as possible to the Target and Best Buy outlets, and queue for tables at Chuck E. Cheese’s and Applebee’s.
But this city, half an hour’s drive north of Atlanta, is unique: it is the only place in America where it is compulsory to own a gun. In 1982, Kennesaw City Council unanimously passed an ordinance requiring households to own at least one firearm with ammunition. The law states that its purpose is to “protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants”. Kennesaw’s ordinance was a heartfelt assertion of second amendment gun rights, a principled and legislative rebuttal to a law passed earlier that year in Morton Grove, Illinois, banning guns within the city limits.
“It was official, but we were protesting as much as anything,” recalls Fred Bentley, a lawyer, who was already 56 when he wrote the ordinance. Looking every part the southern charmer in a grey suit and spotless white shirt topped with a gingham bow tie, Bentley keeps a loaded .38 revolver by his bed and two double-barrel shotguns from his hunting days. Otherwise his guns are decorative – a Brown Bess revolutionary-era musket stands by the door of his office.-[source]
In 1923, California enacted its first significant, statewide restriction on guns. Intended to keep Latinos and the Chinese from carrying concealed weapons it became a law used to deny just about everyone, except those with political connections, from carrying a concealed weapon. There are a few rural areas in the state which are the exception but most people in this state live in urban areas and are denied the means to exercise their constitutional right to self-defense (Article 1, Section 1 of the California Constitution states a right of self-defense).
Fortunately, the first Heller case which was decided by the United States Supreme Court has rung the death knell for the 1923 law thanks to the efforts of Ed Peruta who brought a case against the Sheriff and County of San Diego in Federal court. Chief Federal Judge Irma Gonzalez wrote that we have a right to carry a fully functional loaded handgun, and if the state of California won’t let us carry loaded handguns openly (1967 law) then the State must allow us to carry them concealed. This was even before the McDonald decision.-[ source]
doctor Helvetica, there sans-serif;”> As part of the one of the world’s largest group of firearms and ammunition marketers, Bushmaster Firearms still hasn’t grown too big to remain supportive of popular target-shooting activities like the CMP’s National Trophy and Games Matches.
Established as a quiet operation 32 years ago in Windham, Maine, the family-oriented company grew steadily over the years and in 2006 caught the eye of Wall Street giant Cerberus Capital Management who purchased the company. Former owner Richard Dyke said at the time that Bushmaster had grown to the point where it needed someone with deeper pockets to manage its potential growth.
Since then Cerberus has formed a holding company, the Freedom Group of Companies, which is a now a Who’s Who in the firearms, ammunition and accessories industry including Remington, Marlin, Bushmaster, DPMS Panther Arms, Harrington & Richardson, New England Firearms, L.C. Smith, The Parker Gun, EOTAC, INTC and Barnes Bullets. -[source]
Earlier this month, abortion my counterpart David Codrea wrote about a recent decision by the Obama Administration to ban the import of old, viagra sale surplus army rifles from South Korea. The administration, after previously approving the transaction, says the firearms could fall into the wrong hands. From Fox News:
“The transfer of such a large number of weapons — 87,310 M1 Garands and 770,160 M1 Carbines — could potentially be exploited by individuals seeking firearms for illicit purposes,” the spokesman told FoxNews.com.
The Korean Times reported:
“The U.S. insisted that imports of the aging rifles could cause problems such as firearm accidents. It was also worried the weapons could be smuggled to terrorists, gangs or other people with bad intentions,” the official told The Korea Times.
However, Congressmen John Boozman of Arkansas and Paul Broun of Georgia, in concert with a bipartisan group of 60 other legislators, are fighting to save the rifles.
Boozman and Broun drafted a letter of disapproval (signed by all 62 members of Congress) and sent it on September 17 to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The letter spelled out their disagreement to the ban on these historic firearms.-[source]
Apparently, things are going so well in the Middle East that the State Department now feels it can turn its attention to banning the lawful possession of firearms by American citizens.
In a little-noticed decision in March, the Obama administration reversed an earlier decision and moved to block the importation of 857,470 lawful M1 semi-automatics which were being sold by South Korea in an effort to raise money for its military. According to Hillary Clinton’s State Department, this action was taken because the M1′s “could potentially be exploited… for illicit purposes.”
Even worse, a spokesman for the State Department left the impression that the valuable historic relics could even be melted down, as Clinton’s husband did during his administration. Suffice it to say that this is just another reiteration of the same anti-gun political theatre. And the cheers coming from anti-gunners like Dennis Henigan of the Brady Campaign are ample proof of that.
Possession of these guns by Americans is lawful. They are antiques of historical interest, particularly for those who, unlike Clinton and her husband, served this country honorably in America’s foreign wars. And anyone wishing to acquire one would have to go through an Instant Check.
If any American, going into the November elections, had any doubt that Barack Obama and the Democratic Party leaders hate guns and have contempt for the Second Amendment, this is proof. Reps. John Boozman and Paul Broun are submitting a letter to State Department Secretary Hillary Clinton — demanding that this unlawful decision be reversed.-[source]
He was arrested for protecting his property and family.
But it’s how the Long Island man did it that police say crossed the line.
George Grier said he had to use his rifle on Sunday night to stop what he thought was going to be an invasion of his Uniondale home by a gang he thought might have been the vicious “MS-13.”
He got an AK-47 assault rifle, pulled the trigger and he ended up in jail, reports CBS 2’s Pablo Guzman. – [source]
“What he’s initially charged with – A D felony reckless endangerment — requires a depraved indifference to human life, creating a risk that someone’s going to die. Shooting into a lawn doesn’t create a risk of anybody dying,” Lewis said.
Grier said he knew Nassau County Police employ the hi-tech “ShotSpotter” technology in his area and that the shooting would bring police in minutes. Cops told Guzman he was very cooperative.
Grier also said he was afraid the gang outside his house was the dreaded MS-13. And Nassau County Police Lt. Andrew Mulraine, head of the gang unit, said MS-13 has 2,000 members in the county.
“They’re probably the most organized. They almost have a military hierarchy within the gang, so they are the most organized gang we encounter on a daily basis,” Mulraine said.
You may think a person has the right to defend their home. But the law says you can only use physical force to deter physical force. Grier said he never saw anyone pull out a gun, so a court would have to decide on firing the gun.
Police determined Grier had the gun legally. He has no criminal record. And so he was not charged for the weapon.

In Texas, for example, brandishing and firing a weapon to prevent imminent danger is appropriate (at least for CCL holders). Please show your support for all American’s and their right to defend and protect their families and property.
The Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has selected two companies to proceed with the next stage of its Transformer, known as TX—a fully automated four-person vehicle that can drive like a car and then take off and fly like an aircraft to avoid roadside bombs. Lockheed Martin and AAI Corp., a unit of Textron Systems, are currently in negotiations with DARPA for the first stage of the Transformer project, several industry sources told Popular Mechanics at a robotics conference here in Denver.
AAI’s winning concept does not have a shrouded rotor, but it is also far from being a traditional helicopter. The company, which produces the Shadow unmanned aerial vehicle, is basing its proposal in part on the slowed-rotor/compound concept, a technology that uses rotor blades heavily weighted in the tips, or high inertia. The rotor provides lift on takeoff, and then as it gains speed, the rotor slows down and the wings provide lift.
Lockheed Martin has declined to detail any aspect of its submission, but those familiar with the Phantom Works project speculated that it might combine aspects of the company’s Joint Tactical Light Vehicle, a follow-on to the Humvee, with a ducted fan propulsion system that it would use to fly. – [source]

State of emergency order makes criminals of concealed handgun permit-holders, viagra approved sport shooters and hunters.
[Raleigh] Yesterday, order North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue signed Executive Order No. 62, declaring a State of Emergency in advance of Hurricane Earle. In doing so, Perdue suspended the right of state residents to use or carry firearms outside their premises.-[source]
This week’s hostage standoff at the Discovery Channel headquarters in Maryland offers a scary reminder why it’s important for Americans to be able to own and carry firearms. When the public is packing heat, it’s more dangerous for deranged criminals to threaten innocent life because individuals can defend themselves. No organization does more to protect our right to keep and bear arms than the National Rifle Association, and when you go against the NRA, you get thumped. Just ask Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.-[source]
