Regardless of the government you live under, your actions on the internet are being tracked. Your every search recorded and kept in a database for future use/abuse. US citizens have had their web traffic monitored by the NSA and AT&T, and their every search history subpeaned by a Federal Judge. As we move towards a more wired and connected society, the potentials for abuse grow exponentially. Imagine a future where your past searches label you as a threat to your government. Or where your browsing history is known by everyone. It’s possible now.

from AAP and The Australian May 26, 2006.
SHOOTING broke out in the centre of Dili today as a new deployment of Australian soldiers headed into the capital on foot on a mission to restore peace.
More troops were also landing at the airport and Australia expected to have its entire 1300-strong task force in place by the end of the weekend.
East Timor’s Foreign Minister Jose Ramos-Horta said that his government would pull the armed forces back to their barracks in Metinaro and Baucau, at least 40km outside the capital. "They are returning to their barracks to await any further order from the president of the republic," Mr Ramos Horta said.

Anyone here ever stopped to think about the reason why the United States has a memorial day?
According to what I’ve researched, the remembrance of fallen soldiers has been around for as long as man has waged war against man.
Here is some interesting reading you may like to look at.
Some here in the U.S. have seem to forgotten the meaning behind Memorial Day, and see it as another three-day weekend.
And thank you to America’s finest, wherever you may be, protecting us here at home……..

When Jessie Macbeth told his stories of US atrocities in Iraq, it chilled the blood
"When we were doing the night raids in the houses, we would pull people out and have them all on their knees and zip-tied. We would ask the man of the house questions. If he didn’t answer the way we liked, we would shoot his youngest kid in the head. We would keep going, this was our interrogation. He could be innocent. He could be just an average Joe trying to support his family. If he didn’t give us a satisfactory answer, we’d start killing off his family until he told us something. If he didn’t know anything, I guess he was SOL."
There’s just one problem. Jessie is not, and has never been a US soldier, or a soldier for anyone else. Continue Reading ‘Fake Soldier Embarrasses The Anti-War Movement’

Thieves took sensitive personal information on 26.5 million U.S. veterans, including Social Security numbers and birth dates, after a Veterans Affairs employee improperly brought the material home, the government said Monday.
The information involved mainly those veterans who served and have been discharged since 1975, said VA Secretary Jim Nicholson. Data of veterans discharged before 1975 who submitted claims to the agency may have been included.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans’ police announced that no one would be allowed to be armed and all guns would be taken, but law-abiding citizens with guns deter many criminals from committing a crime and possessing a gun is the safest way to confront a criminal if you are forced to, says John Lott of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). Australia Post management has told a Budget estimates committee hearing it could have consulted more widely before deciding to ban guns from its overseas postal services.
Australia Post stopped transporting the weapons from February this year and now people posting or receiving firearms from overseas must use a courier.
The organisation’s managers have told the Canberra Senate hearing that on 81 occasions last year the processing of mail had to be interrupted because of security concerns about guns in the post.
Liberal and Labor senators on the committee have criticised the ban, and Australia Post’s Michael McCloskey told the hearing the process could have been improved.

In a press conference yesterday, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre and NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox announced a two-part initiative to ensure that the forcible confiscation of lawfully owned firearms-such as occurred in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina-never happens again. As Wayne LaPierre aptly noted, "When the Second Amendment is only as good as your mayor or your police chief says it is, the NRA must take action."

Murrieta, page CA (PRWEB) May 14, 2006 — The Shootist Gun Store in Murrieta will host a Utah Concealed Carry Permit Class this month. Utah Certified Firearms Instructor William Desy said "Common, everyday citizens now have another option to protect themselves and their families while traveling. With only two State-issued Concealed Firearm Permits, any law abiding resident can now legally carry a concealed firearm for personal protection in 30 different states." This is great news for people that travel to any of the States honoring these permits.

A little boy goes to his father and asks "Daddy, how was I born?"
The father answers: "Well son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway! Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe.
We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said: "You’ve got Male"
An actual Blond/Gun joke is next… Read more… Continue Reading ‘Learning about the Bits and the Bytes’
