This week, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Second Amendment is an individual right and concluded that the District of Columbia’s ban on guns in the home is unconstitutional. According to the majority opinion, “[T]he phrase ‘the right of the people’…leads us to conclude that the right in question is individual.” Also, earlier this week, Second Amendment supporters on Capitol Hill introduced H.R. 1399 – the “District of Columbia Personal Protection Act.” Continue Reading ‘D.C. Gun Ban Unconstitutional!!!!’
On Feb. 14, 2007, Representative Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) introduced H.R. 1022, a bill with the stated purpose, "to reauthorize the assault weapons ban, and for other purposes."
McCarthy’s verbiage warrants explanation. Presumably, what she means by "assault weapons ban" is the Clinton Gun Ban of 1994. Congress allowed the ban to expire in 2004 for multiple reasons, including the fact that federal, state and local law enforcement agency studies showed that guns affected by the ban had been used in only a small percentage of crime, before and after the ban was imposed.

SUMMARY: When the FAA issued a final rule on human space flight, it described one rule as consistent with the Second Amendment of the Constitution because, among other things, the right to bear arms under the Second Amendment is a collective right. The FAA now withdraws that characterization and amends its description. http://waronguns.blogspot.com/2007/02/for-immediate-release-faa-withdraws.html

New findings on how offenders train with, carry and deploy the weapons they use to attack police officers have emerged in a just-published, 5-year study by the FBI.
Among other things, the data reveal that most would-be cop killers:
–show signs of being armed that officers miss;
–have more experience using deadly force in "street combat" than their intended victims;
–practice with firearms more often and shoot more accurately;
–have no hesitation whatsoever about pulling the trigger. "If you hesitate," one told the study’s researchers, "you’re dead. You have the instinct or you don’t. If you don’t, you’re in trouble on the street…."
Here are highlights of what they learned about weapon selection, familiarity, transport and use by criminals attempting to murder cops, a small portion of the overall research:

I see that Wikipedia has once again presented information considered by those in the know as "not accurate". The entry for Geeks With Guns indicates that GeeksWithGuns.com is the chapter house of Eric S. Raymond‘s Geeks With Guns open source group; which it is not, as I have continuously contended.
Oh well, I submitted a correction and have moved on. It got me a free link on Wired Mag once, so its not all that bad. Continue Reading ‘Wiki Gets It Wrong… Again’

A newly published report is raising some serious questions about just how easy it is for criminals to get guns. The analysis by the South Florida Sun Sentinel shows there are about 410, and 000 Floridians licensed to carry a hidden gun.
However, prescription among them are hundreds of people with outstanding warrants, purchase domestic violence injunctions, registered sex offenders and people who have pled no contest to felonies.
The paper blames loopholes, mistakes, and miscommunications for giving hundreds of felon’s access to concealed weapons permits.

I had a wonderful time attending the NHL All Star events over the past few days. I am no world traveler (only having been outside of the USA twice for visits to the Great White North), so I was very very pleased to have been a guest of an unnamed corporation who gave me ring-side seats to the events in Dallas.
They didn’t notice (or care about) a 300mm zoom lens for my Canon Digital Rebel, so I loaded up a flash memory card with 250+ close-up photos. Many of them are available for use as desktop wallpapers.
Thank you NHL for bringing back the East vs. West games, and thank you Versus for broadcasting them. I am disappointed that networks like NBC, CBS, ABC and FOX didn’t carry the games. The 3 years without these games have helped to harm the sport and further diminish the popularity of hockey.
It’s a wonderful sport regardless of your location (it doesn’t have to be played on ice), and has enough challenges, rivalries and glory for even the most dedicated of fans.
So if you haven’t really ever watched the game of Hockey, give it a try. If you haven’t been back since the lockout a couple years back, please come back to us. The sport is faster now, the players are a blend of older (better) experience and youthful strength. The athletes are respectful of each other, the fans and the sport. Come back hockey fans… we miss you! Continue Reading ‘A great time at the NHL All Stars’
TOM Cruise is the new “Christ” of Scientology, order according to leaders of the cult-like religion.
The Mission: Impossible star has been told he has been “chosen” to spread the word of his faith throughout the world.
And leader David Miscavige believes that in future, viagra Cruise, order 44, will be worshipped like Jesus for his work to raise awareness of the religion.

“Like Christ, he’s been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right.”
