Democratic presidential hopeful Bill Richardson told a group of National Rifle Association members on Friday he was a proud owner of a concealed-carry permit.
Seven declared presidential candidates plus one waiting in the wings were going to talk guns, recreation and Second Amendment rights Friday before a power-house conservative audience gathered at the NRA’s "Celebration of American Values" conference being held in Washington.
Richardson, the New Mexico governor and the only Democrat on the roster, sent in a video-taped message noting the apparent conflict of his party affiliation with his support for the National Rifle Association.
"As a western governor, I understand and support the Second Amendment," Richardson said, noting he has previously received an NRA endorsement when running for Congress and the governor’s office.
"This position doesn’t always make me the most popular guy in the room with certain audiences, but the reality is that New Mexico has an age-old history of hunting, sportsmanship and other lawful shooting activities," Richardson said, adding that not only did he support his state’s concealed-carry permit law, but, "I have a permit myself."

RED HOUSE, Va. – Islamic extremists in the United States have traditionally set up shop in big cities with large Muslim populations: places like New York City, Dearborn, Michigan and even Washington, DC. But one secretive group is doing just the opposite.
They call themselves Muslims of America. They’ve established compounds throughout the rural U.S. Members say they moved to the countryside to lead peaceful lives free of "Western decadence." But others say that doesn’t tell the whole story.
"Certainly, when you’re in a rural area it enables you to better escape from the prying eyes of law enforcement," said CBN News consultant David Gartenstein-Ross.
He says Muslims of America has close ties to a violent Pakistani group named Jamaat Al-Fuqra. Both groups are led by the same extremist cleric: Sheikh Mubarak Gilani.
"Sheikh Gilani is an extremist figure known to be very much involved in the jihads against India, also known to be very much anti-Semitic," Gartenstein-Ross said.

Last weekend at Larry’s Pistol & Pawn Shop I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Toni. What I came across was a 100,000-volt pocket/purse- sized taser. The effects of the taser were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on an assailant. The idea is to allow my wife — who would never consider a gun –adequate time to retreat to safety. WAY TOO COOL!!
Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home. I loaded in two triple-a batteries and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. But then I read (yes, ‘read’) that if I pushed the button AND pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I’d get the blue arch of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs and I’d know it was working. Awesome!!! (Actually, I have yet to explain to Toni what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave).

The man who fatally shot New Bohemians keyboard player Jeffrey Carter Albrecht on Monday acted in self-defense.
The death of 34-year-old Jeffrey Albrecht, website like this a musician who played with Edie Brickell & New Bohemians has come as a shock to all who knew him and seems to have been an unfortunate accident.
According to police reports, ampoule Albrecht had returned with his girlfriend to her home in Dallas when things started going wrong. Apparently in a drunken rage, viagra 100mg he attacked his girlfriend and then went to her next door neighbor and started banging loudly on the door.
The neighbor, armed with a handgun, shot a fire through the top of the door, allegedly trying to scare the man away. He though Albrecht was a burglar.
As the musician was a tall man, he was shot in the head. He died at the scene.
Dallas police released the recording of the 911 call the unidentified neighbor’s wife made. The woman can be heard saying there is someone banging on her front door, after which a loud noise is heard and then her husband says into the phone that he thinks he just shot somebody.
According to the AP, Dallas police consider the unidentified homeowner was acting in self-defense and therefore did not break the law. He was not arrested Monday.

Google has expanded the boundaries of Google Earth to include views of the universe with a new add-on called Sky. The tool, found in Google Earth 4.2, offers high-resolution photographs from the Hubble Space Telescope and educational information about stellar discoveries and constellations. Its understandable if you are a little skeptical of the Google Earch "Directions From Here" / "Directions To Here" feature (shown on the left)… I too wondered if they somehow offered inner solar system traffic reports… which is why I right-clicked on Uranus. 
One of the neatest features is its new found ability to setup onion-skin layers of the planetary/lunar bodies to give you a time lapse view of the planetary motions. This can be seen from within a playable timeline, or smeared across the screen (like looking through multiple onion-skin layers).
I use the phrase "onion-skin" because thats what they called it when I began working with Macromedia Flash. I don’t know what Adobe’s done with Flash lately, but as long as their stock doesn’t tank, I am all for it. Continue Reading ‘Google Earth expands its horizons upward’
