Legendary actor, civil rights leader and political activist Charlton Heston passed away today, at the age of 84. The Heston family issued the following statement: "To his loving friends, colleagues and fans, we appreciate your heartfelt prayers and support. Charlton Heston was seen by the world as larger than life. He was known for his chiseled jaw, broad shoulders and resonating voice, and, of course, for the roles he played. Indeed, he committed himself to every role with passion, and pursued every cause with unmatched enthusiasm and integrity.
We knew him as an adoring husband, a kind and devoted father, and a gentle grandfather, with an infectious sense of humor. He served these far greater roles with tremendous faith, courage and dignity. He loved deeply, and he was deeply loved.
No one could ask for a fuller life than his. No man could have given more to his family, to his profession, and to his country. In his own words, "I have lived such a wonderful life! I’ve lived enough for two people."
Heston was the President and spokesman of the NRA from 1998 until his resignation in 2003. At the 2000 NRA convention, he raised a hand-made Brooks flintlock rifle over his head and declared that presidential candidate Al Gore would take away his Second Amendment rights "from my cold, dead hands." In announcing his resignation in 2003, he again raised a rifle over his head, repeating the five famous words of his 2000 speech. He was an honorary life member.
Actor George Clooney joked about Heston having Alzheimer’s Disease. When questioned, Clooney said Heston deserved whatever was said about him for his involvement with the NRA. Heston responded by saying Clooney lacked "class," and said he felt sorry for Clooney, as Clooney had as much of a chance of developing Alzheimer’s as anyone else.
DAMNED DIRTY APES! I came across this Gun Rights Advocates Podcast today, and was wondering if anyone else wanted to listen with me, and perhaps discuss the show in our forums. Here’s the link(s): iTunes – RSS Podcast – RSS Blog – Zune This guy may be doing the kind of work that I should be doing, but just don’t have the time or inclination. Listen with me to the Gun Rights Advocates Podcast. Continue Reading ‘Gun Rights Advocates Podcast’ I’ll be speaking at the Libertarian Party national convention in Denver on May 24th (though I’ll be there all weekend). If you are in that region, or active in libertarian circles, I hope you’ll drift over to the convention and we’ll have a chance to chat. If enough Gun Facts readers are coming I’ll devise a hour long meeting [with drinks] to discuss gun rights, the next edition of Gun Facts, and where we go after the Heller decision
I may also be attending the NRA convention the weekend before in Kentucky, but that has not yet been confirmed. More on that when news is available.
Yours in Liberty

"It was the easiest one of the three," said Charlie Miller, a principal analyst with Independent Security Evaluators (ISE), a Baltimore-based security consultancy. "We wanted to spend as little time as possible coming up with an exploit, so we picked Mac OS X." Americans have a right to own guns, Supreme Court justices declared Tuesday in a historic and lively debate that could lead to the most significant interpretation of the Second Amendment since its ratification two centuries ago. Governments have a right to regulate those firearms, a majority of justices seemed to agree. But there was less apparent agreement on the case they were arguing: whether Washington’s ban on handguns goes too far.
It’s tough to buy gifts for you wife/girlfriend/N.Y. Call-Girl(s); believe me, I know. The weaponry I would pick out for her/them are too dark… Too ‘ugly’. "That H&K USP looks like something out of your tool-shed! I ain’t touching it!" she complains. "Fine!" I retort. "I will look for a Rainbow Brite Ammo Loader Kit for you if you are going to be that way… Just don’t expect me to mount it to my workbench, alright?" "FINE!" She yells throwing up her hands. "Fine." I grumble, opening my web-browser to GlamGuns.com in search for the perfect gift for my little Snook-ems. (in regards to the recruiter center bombing in times square) Truth be told, I’m very surprised this act would happen under a Bush Presidency. Luckily no innocents were harmed.
What gets me is these anti-war IDIOTS would try to harm American soldiers, to get their twisted point across. Yeah, demonkrauts will LIE to our faces claiming they care about our soldiers, all the while claiming the war as unwinnable, cutting funds, voting for the war then stating the war was ILLEGAL and started without Congressional approval. Don’t forget the fabrication of Republicans making money off the war. Funny how only liberals recieved a letter from the group responsible for the domestic terrorism act, The game Gygax co-created became part of youth sub-culture Gary Gygax, co-creator of the first role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons, has died at the age of 69. [ 'I would like the world to remember me as the guy who really enjoyed playing games and sharing his knowledge and his fun pastimes with everybody else.' ~ Gary Gygax ] Gygax, who developed the game in 1974 with Dave Arneson, had been suffering from health problems for several years. Famous for its mythical creatures and odd-shaped dice, Dungeons and Dragons was an instant success that spawned a slew of video games, books and films. Gygax was also a author who wrote numerous fantasy books, including the Greyhawk series of adventure novels. He died on Tuesday at his home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, leaving a wife and six children. The more people who know about how historically off-base the professional historians’ brief is, the better. Other briefs presenting historical material in support of Washington D.C.’s handgun ban have relied on these completely mistaken historians for their material as well.
