Guns are a sad fact of life in American culture and are a major topic in modern journalism. A good Journalist has a duty to get involved and make a difference in this important societal debate. By following certain guidelines, the concerned Journalist can be assured of having the maximum impact on this shameful problem.
The first principle to remember is that subtle use of terminology can covertly influence the reader. Adjectives should be chosen for maximum anti-gun effect. When describing a gun, attach terms like "automatic," "semi-automatic," "large caliber," "deadly," "high powered," or "powerful." Almost any gun can be described by one or more of these terms. More than two guns should be called an "arsenal."

Look at the three leading candidates: they are three peas in a pod. There is no substantive difference between them….
Ladies and gentlemen, please wake up! Get your heads out of the sand! Our country is imploding and we keep electing and re-electing the same scoundrels who are culpable. The media provides them cover. Many of our pastors and Christian leaders provide them cover as well. But it is the people of this country–you and me–who have the power to actually do something about it. Read more… Continue Reading ‘THREE PEAS IN A POD by Chuck Baldwin’

I thought this was a great explanation of the tax rebate program now being debated in Congress.
50,000 people went to a baseball game, but the game was rained out. A refund was then due.
The team was about to mail refunds when a group of Congressional Democrats stopped them and suggested that they send out the ticket refunds based on the Democrat National Committee’s interpretation of fairness.
Originally the refunds were to be paid based on the price each person had paid for the tickets. Unfortunately that meant most of the refund money would be going to the ticket holders that had purchased the most expensive tickets. This, according to the DNC, is considered totally unfair. A decision was then made to pay out the refunds in this manner:
People in the $10 seats will get back $15. After all, they have less money to spend on tickets to begin with. Call it an "Earned Income Ticket Credit." Persons "earn" it by having few skills, poor work habits, and low ambition, thus keeping them at entry-level wages.
People in the $25 seats will get back $25, because it "seems fair."
People in the $50 seats will get back $1, because … (READ MORE) Continue Reading ‘Understanding the Tax Rebate program’
The Stanley Cup Playoffs are HERE! It’s the reason for the season, and for those who are going to put some money on it in Vegas, you might want to look at this…
Are any teams a lock for the Finals? Want to know how each series will finish? Wondering what will happen to your favorite team? WhatIfSports.com presents NHL Playoff Preview, a quick and simple breakdown of each series. WhatIfSports simulated the entire NHL Playoffs 10,000 times by plugging every stat it could get its hands on into the site’s award-winning simulation engine. Click on a conference to find out how each team will fare.
Ultimately, though, the WhatIfSports.com NHL bracket concludes with the better-seeded teams on top. Mathematical simulation often comes down to exploiting obvious weaknesses. Detroit, with its balanced team and two great goaltenders, has no obvious weaknesses. The Red Wings have the highest chance of winning the tournament at 51.1 percent. This means that Detroit is slightly more likely to win than the proverbial "field."
After the Red Wings, only two teams, Montreal (13.5 percent) and Dallas are in the double digit percentages. After the top three, everything is essentially up for grabs. The very young yet extremely talented Pittsburgh Penguins are next at 4.9 percent. They are followed by San Jose (4.3 percent), New Jersey (4.1 percent) and Ottawa (2.9 percent). Every team wins the Cup at least 0.1 percent of the time — or at least 10 out of 10,000 tries.

We live in dangerous times. Well, not really. Actually, life in the 21st century is safer than ever before. This, however, doesn’t stop people from selling and buying overpriced and often useless self-defense products.
While most of the stuff on the market will simply gather dust on your shelf/purse/man-bag that’s not actually a purse, some of these real products seem a hell of a lot more dangerous to the owner than the mugger.
