Smith & Wesson, here the famed American gunmaker once owned by
Tomkins, pharm the British conglomerate, more about expects to nearly double its annual
sales in the next three to five years as demand for its firearms soars
in the recession. It is not alone.
All over America demand for firearms and ammunition is rising amid
concerns that rising unemployment, which passed 10 per cent this month,
will lead inexorably to higher rates of crime. Fears of terrorism have
also helped to lift demand, as have concerns among gun owners that the
Obama Administration may introduce restrictions on gun ownership and
impose additional taxes.Read more… Continue Reading ‘Gun sales shoot up amid America’s fear’
Cassidy Lockett and her three children were the victims of a recently attempted house robbery. The two men responsible for the crime had escaped from a local prison and were most likely aware that people were present in the house, store but they continued the assault anyway. Unfortunately for them, they had no idea what was coming. Upon rushing the children to a bedroom, Cassidy proceeded to call police as she loaded her .22 pistol. The men busted a window to enter the home but Lockett was quick to respond, later saying, "I was pointing the gun at him and, you know, I used a few choice words and told him to get out or I was going to shoot." Despite fleeing the property, the suspects were apprehended by police a few minutes later. Cassidy and her husband wasted no time in further preparation, however, as they bought a 12-gauge shotgun the next day. Continue Reading ‘To Keep and Bear Arms’
He has been called "extreme" by some. But to others, he’s beyond extreme… he’s a "Radical’s Radical."
Whatever he is, he could become President Obama’s next choice for the federal judiciary.
This radical is Judge David Hamilton, and he’s been nominated for a position on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Hamilton has made many political enemies on the right, seeing that his politics are to the far left of the political spectrum. Oh yes, judges aren’t supposed to be political, but this one has engaged in quite a bit of leftist activism.
His biggest opponent on Capitol Hill is Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama, the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Based on his analysis of Hamilton, gun owners should be very concerned about a judge who is all to willing to "amend the Constitution." According to Senator Sessions:
Judge Hamilton stated in a 2003 speech that the role of a judge includes writing footnotes to the Constitution: "Judge S. Hugh Dillin of this court has said that part of our job here as judges is to write a series of footnotes to the Constitution. We all do that every year in cases large and small." In explaining this statement to Senator Hatch, Judge Hamilton wrote that he believes the Framers intended judges to amend the Constitution through evolving case law.
Of course, we have seen this pattern time and time again. Judges ignore the clear wording of the Constitution — in essence, amending the Constitution through each new case they decide.
The courts then become the vehicle for rewriting the Second Amendment! Continue Reading ‘Obama Pushing a "Radical's Radical" to the Federal Bench’
Americans will be able to carry loaded guns in National Parks starting on February 22, 2010 thanks to the COBURN AMENDMENT attached to a credit card reform bill signed by President Obama earlier this year. That Congressional mandate immunizes Americans from the National Park Service’s gun carry BAN provided that the gun carry does not violate any other state or federal law.
Most states allow both open and concealed carry of loaded firearms in public places, though typically concealed carry requires a state issued license. Another wrinkle is that some states regulate gun carry inside vehicles more strictly than gun carry on foot, while other states do the reverse.

Second Amendment advocates are expressing alarm that the most significant attack on gun rights across the United States in years soon could come in the form of a workplace "safety" regulation under President Obama’s nominee to run the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration. writer Bryan Myrick noted that the Washington Times has urged the Senate to reject Michaels’ nomination.
"OSHA is an agency that already has a well-earned reputation for abusing its authority and reaching beyond its stated purpose. Add one zealot and it easily becomes an oppressive entity with immense power over all American businesses, large and small. At a time in which America’s businesses desperately need the freedom to responsibly pursue earning profits and put workers back on the payroll, the chemical potency of combining Obama’s left-wing agenda with an anti-business zealot manager at OSHA could prove toxic," Myrick wrote.

A wheelchair-bound, quadriplegic New Jersey man who waged a
2-1/2-year battle to buy a gun has the right to a firearm permit, a
judge ruled Wednesday.
Superior Court Judge John Pursel of Somerville, N.J., ruled
Wednesday that James Cap, who is physically unable to hold a gun or
pull a trigger with his limbs, should be allowed to have a firearm ID
card despite the opposition of a local police chief, The (Newark, N.J.)
Star-Ledger reported.
"I hope you enjoy the use of your firearm," Pursel told Cap, an avid
hunter, before signing an order allowing him to get a permit under the
conditions that any guns he buys be stored in a safe and that only
qualified people assist him with the weapons. Continue Reading ‘Quadriplegic hunter gets gun permit’
Alien Transfer and Exit Program: Gov. Perry (r) of Texas describes it as a plan where illegal
immigrants who are captured in Arizona are sent to the small Texas town
of Presidio and set free. It’s a sign that the Obama administration is
trying to punish Texas, abortion Perry said, pilule adding that members of the state’s
congressional delegation, remedy as well as his office, weren’t given any
warning of the administration’s plans for Presidio.
But there’s more to the program than Perry described.Read more!! Continue Reading ‘Obama punishing Texas with illegal aliens?’

WikiHistory: U.S. President Woodrow Wilson
first proclaimed an Armistice Day for November 11, 1919. The United
States Congress passed a concurrent resolution seven years later on
June 4, 1926, requesting the President issue another proclamation to
observe November 11 with appropriate ceremonies. An Act (52 Stat. 351;
5 U.S. Code, Sec. 87a) approved May 13, 1938, made the 11th of November
in each year a legal holiday; "a day to be dedicated to the cause of
world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as ‘Armistice
Day’."
In 1953, an Emporia, Kansas shoe store owner named Al King had the idea to expand Armistice Day to celebrate all veterans, not just those who served in World War I. King had been actively involved with the American War Dads during World War II. He began a campaign to turn Armistice Day into "All" Veterans Day. The Emporia Chamber of Commerce
took up the cause after determining that 90% of Emporia merchants as
well as the Board of Education supported closing their doors on
November 11, 1953, to honor veterans. With the help of then-U.S. Rep. Ed Rees, also from Emporia, a bill for the holiday was pushed through Congress. President Dwight Eisenhower signed it into law on May 26, 1954.
Congress amended this act on November 8, 1954, replacing "Armistice" with Veterans, and it has been known as Veterans Day since.
Although originally scheduled for celebration on November 11 of every year, starting in 1971 in accordance with the Uniform Monday Holiday Act,
Veterans Day was moved to the fourth Monday of October. In 1978 it was
moved back to its original celebration on November 11 (with the
exceptions described above). Since this change, there has been a trend
against being closed on the holiday. It began with businesses
(excluding banks) and in recent years some schools and local
governments have also chosen to remain open.

Meanwhile, nurse ABC News is now breatlessly reporting that one of the pistols Hasan allegedly used in the Fort Hood attack was the FN Herstal "Five-seveN" which has been branded the “cop killer pistol.”
Gun rights advocates and ballistics experts would argue there is no good reason for such a label. As noted by the Confederate Yankee website, there is no known record of a single American police officer having been killed with this pistol or the cartridge it uses.
The pistol fires a 7.7x28mm necked cartridge that is roughly the same size as a .22 Magnum .22, with a lighter bullet but faster velocity and more energy. The bullet shape and its .224-inch diameter, combined with the velocity, could allow it to penetrate soft body armor, but some 9mm and .357 Magnum bullets will do that, also.
Larry Sterett did a review of the pistol and cartridge in the pages of Gun Week in 2005.
The term “cop killer” was invented by the gun control lobby first to describe bullets that will penetrate a ballistic vest, but literally any bullet fired from a centerfire hunting rifle will do that. This is why the National Rifle Association and other groups energetically fought legislation to ban so-called “cop killer” bullets. The statute would have literally outlawed every centerfire rifle cartridge used by American big game hunters.
The term is now being used to demonize a lightweight, smallbore pistol that has no history of use against police officers.
Watch for a concerted effort to blame the FN Herstal “Five-seveN” pistol and its cartridge for the carnage at Fort Hood.
