Don’t you love good, happy news like this that the mainstream media absolutely loathe simply because it contradicts the notion that Americans are mean and cold hearted? Hah! Do not be disparaged! Americans are as generous and warm-hearted as usual, and this story will confirm that!

How London citizens delt with terrorists…. 96 years ago

There is a great opinion piece at the Daily Telegraph. I heard about this on WBAL’s Ron Smith Show . The article starts with a story about how the then, well armed citizens of London assisted police with the capture of 2 anarchists, and points out how todays gun control laws really hurt rather than help. Bill Of Rights Day

Don’t forget during the rush of Christmas season that December 15th is Bill Of Rights Day.

Ratified Dec. 15th 1791, many soldiers have fallen forever to protect Americans, our Constitution and Bill Of Rights.  Don’t forget the rights bestowed upon us by our Founders. The original Bill Of Rights.

New drug acts as marijuana in the brain

MONTREAL, medications Dec. 13 (UPI) — A McGill University study suggests a new anti-depressant drug works by raising levels of endocannabinoids — similar to a substance found in marijuana.

The study suggests the new drug, this site called URB597, might represent a safer alternative to use of marijuana for treatment of pain and depression, and open the door to new and improved treatments for clinical depression.

Should Tookie Williams be spared his punishment?

Four Los Angeles City Council members called for calm Friday as Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger considers whether to grant clemency to Crips co-founder and death row inmate Stanley "Tookie" Williams.

In California, only the governor has the authority to commute a death sentence to life in prison. Ronald Reagan was the last California governor to grant clemency in 1967.

Williams, now 51, was sentenced to death in 1981 after he was found guilty of murdering four people during two separate robberies two years earlier. Continue Reading ‘Should Tookie Williams be spared his punishment?’

Earth’s Magnetic Pole Drifting Quickly

Earth’s north magnetic pole is drifting away from North America and toward Siberia at such a clip that Alaska might lose its spectacular Northern Lights in the next 50 years, scientists said Thursday. Despite accelerated movement over the past century, the possibility that Earth’s modestly fading magnetic field will collapse is remote. But the shift could mean Alaska may no longer see the sky lights known as auroras, which might then be more visible in more southerly areas of Siberia and Europe. IS HELL EXOTHERMIC OR ENDOTHERMIC?

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington Chemistry mid term. The answer was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, which is why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well.

BONUS QUESTION: IS HELL EXOTHERMIC (GIVES OFF HEAT) OR ENDOTHERMIC (ABSORBS HEAT)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle’s law (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed), or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:

Washington DC is more dangerous than Iraq

If you consider that there have been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraq theater of operations during the last 22 months, and a total of 2112 deaths, that gives a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000. The rate in Washington D.C. (among others) is 80.6 per 100,000. That means that you are about 25% more likely to be shot and killed in our Nation’s Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq.

Conclusion: We should immediately pull out of Washington D.C. Continue Reading ‘Washington DC is more dangerous than Iraq’
