Hogzilla’s big-brother

Hogzilla is being made into a horror movie. But the sequel may be even bigger: Meet Monster Pig. An 11-year-old Alabama boy used a pistol to kill a wild hog his father says weighed a staggering 1,051 pounds and measured 9-feet-4 from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail. Think hams as big as car tires.

If the claims are accurate, Jamison Stone’s trophy boar would be bigger than Hogzilla, the famed wild hog that grew to seemingly mythical proportions after being killed in south Georgia in 2004.

Hogzilla originally was thought to weigh 1,000 pounds and measure 12 feet in length. National Geographic experts who unearthed its remains believe the animal actually weighed about 800 pounds and was 8 feet long.

Regardless of the comparison, Jamison is reveling in the attention over his pig, which has a Web site put up by his father—http://www.monsterpig.com —that is generating Internet buzz.

2008 Candidates: Now Is The Time To Repeal All Gun Laws

Here is an excerpt from a piece written by Sandy Froman of the National Rifle Association of America, May 3, 2007: "To paraphrase from my previous column, there are two main conflicting views of the Second Amendment: the individual rights view and the collective rights view. Those who hold the former say that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear arms to every law-abiding and peaceable individual American citizen. Those who hold the latter say the Second Amendment does nothing more than give state governments the power to equip National Guard units. The gun debate in America revolves around which of these two views is correct.

But who decides which view is correct? Only the courts have the power to do that."

Do they? Perhaps and perhaps not. Maybe it’s all a non-issue. Here’s why.

Who Left the Gate Open?

Most terrorists seem like bumbling losers if they’re caught before the act: That’s certainly true of the Fort Dix jihadists who took their terrorist training DVD to the local audio store to be copied. It was also true of the Islamists arrested in Toronto last year for plotting to behead the prime minister, one of whose cell members had a bride who wanted him to sign a prenup committing him to jihad. The Heathrow plotters arrested while planning to blow up U.S.-bound airliners included a Muslim convert who’d started out as the son of a British Conservative Party official with a P. G. Wodehouse double-barreled name and a sister who was a Victoria’s Secret model and ex-wife of tennis champ Yanick Noah.

But then Mohammed Atta and the 9/11 gang would have seemed pretty funny if you’d run into them in that lap-dance club they went to before the big day where the girls remembered them only as very small tippers. Most terrorists are jokes until the bomb goes off.

Can governments determine what is/isn’t a sin?

Although our world wants us to be convinced that faith is a private issue and that it has no business in the political arena, nothing could be further from the truth. This is not about politics; but reflects an evil agenda that wants to violate God’s word and frustrate His church. Please take time to pray for our country and take action to contact those who rule over us with respect to the following agenda:

A new bill, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), has been introduced in the House of Representatives by Congressman Barney Frank. The bill (HR 2015) would force organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Veterans of Foreign Wars, day care centers, Christian business owners, adoption agencies, public schools, municipalities and a host of other businesses and organizations to hire homosexual applicants.

Governor Perry Signs Emergency Powers Bill Into Law!

On Friday, April 27, Governor Rick Perry (R) signed into law Senate Bill 112, NRA-backed legislation to prevent the confiscation of firearms and ammunition from law-abiding citizens during a future state of emergency or natural disaster.

This important measure will ensure that what occurred in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina will never happen in Texas.

Please take a moment to send an email of thanks to the bill’s sponsors State Senator John Carona (R-Dallas) at john.carona@senate.state.tx.us and State Representative Frank Corte (R-San Antonio) at frank.corte@house.state.tx.us.

Thank you Texas for NOT trampling our constitutional rights! Hmmm… Why didn’t any democRATS sponsor a bill like this? Continue Reading ‘Governor Perry Signs Emergency Powers Bill Into Law!’

Military recruiting deceptions?

There is a canard that is being used by our military recruiters that basically says that a resident of our nation’s capitol is more likely to die violently than one of our troops in Iraq.  This is FALSE !  To arrive at this flawed conclusion, one must twist the math and compare MONTHLY "murder" rate of our troops with ANNUAL rates in D.C.

Using current data and correct 5th grade arithmetic yields a real ratio of about 10 to 1 that you are safer in D.C. than in Iraq.  More 411 is on pages 24 and 25 of the April 9 issue of THE NEW YORKER. Continue Reading ‘Military recruiting deceptions?’

The NRA responds to the Media Reports

Recent reports in the Washington Post, Newsweek and other media outlets are fanning Internet rumors regarding the NRA’s position concerning legislation currently being discussed in Congress in the aftermath of the horrific crimes that occurred at Virginia Tech.

The NRA has a long history of supporting measures to keep guns out of the hands of violent criminals and those who have been adjudicated by a court as mentally incompetent, and we will continue to do so.  We will also continue our efforts to make sure that the National Instant Background Check System (NICS) is accurate, fair, and instant by seeking changes to permanently ensure that no fee is associated with the check, that system outages are minimized, and that our men and women in uniform who have served our country honorably are not unjustly denied their constitutional rights.  As always, the NRA is committed to ensuring that any proposal does not infringe upon the rights of law-abiding gun owners.
