Via Glenn Reynolds we find Mike O’Shea commenting on the possibility of the Supreme Court overturning the District of Columbia’s handgun ban, if it grants certiorari in the case of Parker v. D.C. He points to what happens when leftist judicial activists worship some parts of the Constitution and competely ignore others:
"So the Constitution says Roe, but it doesn’t say I have the right to keep a gun to defend my home, huh?" …arms actually are mentioned by name in the Constitution, and given special status and protection by the Second Amendment. Combine this with the ‘penumbras and emanations’ of the Third and Fourth amendments – which confer special status upon the home and belongings of the individual – and a strong case can be made that gun ownership for protection of self, family and possessions is also an inalienable right guaranteed by the Constitution, and a much stronger right than privacy. http://www.kxmc.com/News/Nation/145315.asp

When I was still a member of what is probably best termed the British Jihadi Network – a series of British Muslim terrorist groups linked by a single ideology – I remember how we used to laugh in celebration whenever people on TV proclaimed that the sole cause for Islamic acts of terror like 9/11, the Madrid bombings and 7/7 was Western foreign policy.
By blaming the Government for our actions, those who pushed this "Blair’s bombs" line did our propaganda work for us. More important, they also helped to draw away any critical examination from the real engine of our violence: Islamic theology.
Step two: since Islam must declare war on unbelief, they have declared war upon the whole world.

When you interview people on the street, there seems to be a common theme occuring in regard to Hillary Clinton being elected President. When asked the question "would you vote for Hillary", most people say yes, they would vote for her. When asked why, blank stares and uninformed answers emit from people’s mouths. The most common line of reasoning is "because she is a woman". We know that’s not a qualification or a good answer. However, most of the time when asked why the voter thinks that’s a good idea, the common theme answer is that "I dunno, it’s different and edgy".
I wonder if the voters would also hire a pathological pedophile to baby-sit their kids because it’s different and edgy. That’s what this line of reasoning amounts to. We are talking about the direction of our nation and the wellbeing of our very lives!

Want an iPhone? Of course you do. It looks sexy, it’s innovative, and–for a while at least–it’ll be the ultimate status symbol. But in the fog of iPhone hype, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that the latest Apple sensation will still have its share of disadvantages. We don’t have the king of gadgets in our mitts yet, but judging from the information that has already been released, clearly some folks could have problems with the iPhone. So before you dump your current cell phone, consider these issues.

Anyone been having trouble with some websites lately? It appears a large DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack is going on. I hear that AOL and Intel’s websites were defaced and I just found this article: "Hackers have forced the Pentagon to shut down a large number of computers by penetrating parts of the security system.
Reports suggested that 1,500 computers were taken offline, but the US Department of Defense said it could not confirm how many computers were affected. " ~ link
It’s been an irritant to me because one of the hosts I use (and I use with my clients) is http://DiscountASP.com, and they are one of the networks under attack. This has kept my programmers-portal http://PixelSyndicate.com/PS down and up and down since last evening.
It wasn’t GeeksWithGuns.com getting defaced this time! (whew) Continue Reading ‘DOS attack breaches Pentagon’
We may have seen it all before in science-fiction films. But the bionic warrior is in fact a vision of real-life warfare in the 21st century. U.S. defence chiefs hope to have their troops kitted out in the outlandish combat gear as soon as 2020.
Included in the Pentagon’s Future Warrior Concept are a powerful exoskeleton, a self-camouflaging outer layer that adapts to changing environments and a helmet which translates a soldier’s voice into any foreign language.

LINCOLN, R.I. — One-hit wonder Tommy Tutone made the phone number 867-5309 famous in the band’s 1982 hit single, which uses the digits over and over in its catchy refrain.
Now, a Rhode Island company and a national firm are battling over the right to use the number, which doesn’t reach the "Jenny" that Tutone sings about, but could find callers a decent plumber.
Two years ago, Gem Plumbing & Heating of Lincoln, R.I., trademarked the phone number in the early 1980s hit, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Gem acquired the number in Rhode Island when its original owner, Brown University, gave up 867-5309 after growing weary of the constant prank calls.
Gem’s number works in the 401 area code in Rhode Island and the 617 area code in southern Massachusetts. Read More…
