Obama trying to quietly end the Armed Pilot program

A revelation by the Washington Times that President Barack Obama is trying to quietly end the armed pilot program, and making air travel more vulnerable to terrorist attack, should outrage travelers, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

“The Washington Times nailed it,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, who proposed arming pilots just hours after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and championed the armed pilot program. “What Obama is doing is risking public safety, as the newspaper put it, ‘in the name of an anti-gun ideology’.”

The newspaper reported in its Tuesday edition that President Obama is “quietly ending the federal firearms program” by diverting some $2 million from the training program to hire “supervisory” staff, whose job, it appears, will be to harass armed pilots through unnecessary field inspections.

“How dare the president, or anybody in his administration, take measures to erode the safety of air travelers,” Gottlieb questioned. “The armed pilot program provides a guaranteed level of security to the public. There may or may not be an air marshal aboard every airplane, but there is definitely a pilot in the *****pit.

Obama wants Vets to pay for their military service injuries

This makes me want to throw up… How could ANY military vet have voted for this piece of crap (or fail to vote against him)?

The Obama administration is considering making veterans use private
insurance to pay for treatment of combat and service-related injuries.
The plan would be an about-face on what veterans believe is a
long-standing pledge to pay for health care costs that result from
their military service. But in a White House meeting Monday, more about
veterans groups apparently failed to persuade President Obama to take
the plan off the table. “Veterans of all generations agree that
this proposal is bad for the country and bad for veterans, store ” said Paul
Rieckhoff, page executive director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of
America. “If the president and the OMB [Office of Management and
Budget] want to cut costs, they can start at AIG, not the VA.” Under
current policy, veterans are responsible for health care costs that are
unrelated to their military service. Exceptions in some cases can be
made for veterans who do not have private insurance or are 100 percent
disabled.

SciFi channel aims to be a chick-channel!?

The SciFi channel wants to distance itself from the Geeks who MADE THEM!!! and change their name to appeal to purse swinging metrosexuals and – ehhhmm! – females.

"In some universe, visit the name “Syfy” is less geeky than the name “Sci
Fi.” Dave Howe, website like this president of the Sci Fi Channel, discount is betting it’s this
one.

To that end, the 16-year-old network—owned by NBC Universal—plans to
announce that Syfy is its new name March 16 at its upfront presentation
to advertisers in New York.""Sci Fi is coming off the best year in its history. In primetime it
ranked 13th in total viewers among ad-supported cable networks in 2008.
It’s a top-10 network in both adults 18 to 49 (up 4%) and adults 25 to
54 (up 6%).

During its fourth-quarter earnings call, parent General Electric
said Sci Fi racked up a double-digit increase in operating earnings
despite the beginnings of the recession.

Nevertheless, there was always a sneaking suspicion that the name was holding the network back.

“The name Sci Fi has been associated with geeks and dysfunctional,
antisocial boys in their basements with video games and stuff like
that, as opposed to the general public and the female audience in
particular,” said TV historian Tim Brooks, who helped launch Sci Fi
Channel when he worked at USA Network."I guess I can finally cancel my extended basic cable subscription.

Red's Wins Fussilade, ATF Stands Down

A battle between an Idaho gun shop and federal regulators over the shop’s right to sell guns that has consumed nearly seven years and tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees has been closed down with an agreement that an outside third party will help with the shop’s record-keeping.

The long-running dispute was between inspectors for the BATFE and Ryan Horsley, manager of Red’s Trading Post of Twin Falls, Idaho. The resolution comes in a case in which the government alleged the shop made mistakes in its gun sales record-keeping to the point that inspectors complained about a "threat" from the gun shop manager when he posted an update on his disagreement with the agency on his blog. The agency complained in court its inspectors "suspended" their work at the store for having their presence documented.

The store responded that, "It is equally as likely that Respondents decided to exaggerate innocuous circumstances to justify terminating an inspection that was not finding any regulatory violations or breaches of the Court’s order." – [source]

Liberals Are Control Freaks!

Whether the liberals are passing a stimulus bill that creates a new government
agency to compile an electronic database of the medical records of every
American, “stealing” a working man’s money and giving it to an illegal alien, or attempting to prevent a person from owning a gun to defend themselves, it is obvious that they are delusional control freaks.

Sales of guns, ammo still high

Four months after the election of President Barack Obama, firearms and ammunition sales in Tulsa remain at a fever pitch.

Popular self-protection ammunition is often sold out at local stores,
weapons are flying off shelves and the state reports an 87 percent
increase in concealed carry permit applications for February 2008 over
February 2009.

"People are hoarding. They’re creating a shortage," Jim Prall
at Sports World on 41st Street said of ammunition sales. "We’ve sold
more ammunition in the last three months than we sold last year."

Gun sales spiked in November with the election of Barack Obama
and Democrats adding to their majority in Congress. But local gun
dealers say the spike is turning into a steady climb with political
worries about gun rights as well as worries about the economy and
potential for increased crime.

Prall said his store planned ahead for the increase, having
seen a similar spike after Bill Clinton was elected, but the previous
jump in sales pales in comparison to what’s happening now.

"Most we’re selling now we got back in September, but we bought pallets then where normally we wouldn’t have ordered that much."

Why Gun Confiscation May be Good for You

By Kirby Ferris

Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership. © JPFO 2009

Let’s take a look at the silver lining in the cloud that is gun confiscation. Try to remember: nothing is all bad.

Economics are a big consideration. Black market guns will likely be cheaper than they were at the gun shop or sporting goods store. And no more serial numbers on guns or any of that silly paperwork to fill out.

There will be a market driven “trickle down” effect on the end user’s price. To your benefit.

Doncha see? There are at least 65 million gun owners in America today. That’s probably as large a percent of the nation as ignored alcohol Prohibition. 65 million potential customers for black market guns is an awfully attractive business opportunity. And used-to-be gun owners will be seriously motivated buyers. Having someone disarm you is a little more edgy than being told you can’t have a beer. Well … that may be stretching it. But you get my point.

Since the Federal Government won’t be able to license or tax illicit guns (just like they don’t tax crack cocaine, more about or pot, web or trailer park meth) guns will be cheaper right off the bat! Presently, generic gun makers have to pay a ten percent excise tax on every gun they manufacture. Not on every gun they sell … on every one they make. That cost gets passed on to you. Not so with a black market.

Lawsuit Against America's Firearms Manufacturers Denied By U.S. Supreme Cou

Fairfax, Va. – Today, the U.S. Supreme Court denied consideration of New York City and Washington, D.C. lawsuits, New York v. Beretta and Lawson v. Beretta, respectively, that tried to hold American gun manufacturers responsible for the acts of criminals. The Court ‘s order leaves standing a pair of decisions by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and District of Columbia Court of Appeals, both of which found that the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), enacted in 2005, prevents these types of lawsuits against lawful firearms manufacturers and dealers.
* The third paragraph appears to be proof liberals hate America, as bankrupting firearms manufacturers will destroy our armed defense, defenders of liberty.

SAF CHALLENGES D.C. HANDGUN BAN SCHEME

For Immediate Release: 3/9/2009 BELLEVUE, remedy WA – The Second Amendment Foundation and three Washington, viagra D.C. residents today filed a lawsuit challenging a regulation by District of Columbia city government that arbitrarily bans handguns based on a roster of “acceptable” handguns approved by the State of California. The District is using this list despite a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court last summer that protects handguns that ordinary people traditionally use for self-defense. This scheme could eventually bar the ownership of any new handguns. Attorney Alan Gura, representing the plaintiffs in this case, noted that District bureaucrats “told Tracy Ambeau Hanson her gun was the wrong color.” Americans are not limited to a government list of approved books, or approved religions, he said. A handgun protected by the Second Amendment doesn’t need to appear on any government-approved list either. “The Springfield XD-45 is approved for sale in Washington,” Gura noted, “so long as it is black, green, or brown, but her bi-tone version is supposedly ‘unsafe’.” Continue Reading ‘SAF CHALLENGES D.C. Obama told Idahoans he wouldn't take away their guns. He lied.

Remember back in February 2008 when President Obama came to Boise and spoke at a big rally? He made a big point of saying, "I won’t take away your guns," because those nasty, dishonest Republicans were saying that Obama was going to do that.

It sure didn’t take long for Obama to reveal his intentions. The afternoon of the inauguration, the White House Web site’s Urban Policy page admitted that he is indeed going to try and do exactly that. "Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent."

I will give Obama the benefit of the doubt about whether closing the "gun show loophole" violates the Second Amendment. (There really isn’t any "gun show loophole" – gun dealers have to do the same paperwork at a gun show as they do at their shop; this is really the private party sale loophole.). There are ways to fix this that aren’t necessarily a violation of our rights.
