Any would-be robbers looking to walk into the bank here had best think twice.

There’s a new sign in town.

About a month ago, Chappell Hill Bank president Edward Smith looked at a sign on the front door prohibiting concealed weapons from his business and decided to make a policy change.

Licensed to carry a handgun? Come on in, and bring your weapon.

The sign, now prominently displayed on the bank’s front door, says, “Lawful concealed carry permitted on these premises. Management recognizes the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution as an inalienable right of all citizens. We therefore support and encourage the carrying of licensed concealed weapons.”

Smith said he made the policy change to send a warning to potential robbers, and also to express support to Americans’ right to bear arms.-[source]

Pistol Ban ‘May Hit Olympic Chances’

A ban on a popular starting pistol could damage the nation’s hopes at the 2012 Olympic Games, it was claimed yesterday.UK Athletics firearms licensing manager David Brown said outlawing the Olympic .380 BBM was the equivalent of seizing whistles from football referees.

The former Greater Manchester Police officer said amateur clubs, schools and race meetings have been brought to a “virtual standstill”.

Mr Brown said: “The implications for our major Olympic sport in the lead-up to 2012 should not be underestimated.

“The guns are the only thing that give a dual signal, a flash and smoke, to the athletes in front of you and the timekeepers.-[source]

No Common Sense in England

Gun-control advocates love to pretend they’re only pushing for “common-sense” laws, but I’d love to hear global gun-banner Rebecca Peters defend the law that’s going to put Paul Clarke behind bars for five years, all because he found a gun and turned it over to police.

According to the law in England, when Paul touched the shotgun that someone had thrown into his garden, he became a criminal. And when he went to the police station to hand over the shotgun, he ended up arrested and thrown in jail, despite the fact that the Surrey police tell residents they can report found firearms at the station.

Can Ms. Peters really claim that justice is being served here? Because of a bad law, a good man is going behind bars for five years. There is no common sense here, just the unjust outcome that inevitably results when a gun-banning ideology takes hold. – [source]
