In a letter to President Obama and Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, the 45 senators said they would oppose ratification of an Arms Trade Treaty that in any way restricts the rights of law-abiding American gun owners. This is enough to block the treaty from Senate passage, as treaties submitted to the U.S. Senate require approval of two-thirds of Senators present to be ratified.

“Our Second Amendment is non-negotiable,” said Hatch. “We don’t need a bunch of bureaucrats at the United Nations dictating our liberties and freedoms. This Treaty should not be ratified and I will fight it tooth and nail.”-[source]

A UN committee wrapped up a week-long series of meetings on a massive treaty that could undermine both U.S. sovereignty and the Second Amendment. This is the third round of meetings by the so-called “preparatory committee” on the Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) as the UN gears up for final negotiations in 2012.

The most comprehensive treaty of its kind, the ATT would regulate weapons trade throughout the world on everything from battleships to bullets.

And as information trickles out of Turtle Bay in New York City, it is obvious the UN is getting more clever about taking the focus off of “small arms.”

With an eye cast in the direction of the U.S.—in particular, toward the U.S. Senate which must ratify the treaty—the most recent Draft Paper for the Arms Trade Treaty recognizes in its preamble “the sovereign right of States to determine any regulation of internal transfers of arms and national ownership exclusively within their territory, including through national constitutional protections on private ownership.”

That statement, taken by itself, is troubling. Americans’ right to keep and bear arms exists whether or not it is “recognized” by some UN committee. The right enshrined in the Second Amendment predates our own Constitution, and does not need an international stamp of approval.-[source]

Bush, was among six citizens murdered by a psychopath in Tucson. Democrat Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was among 14 wounded in that attack.

Predictably, Barack Hussein Obama and his Leftist cadres in the Democrat Party were quick to convert the Tucson tragedy into political fodder to formulate a new round of “common sense” gun control legislation. Indeed, Obama claimed the Tucson assault should “at least be the beginning of a new discussion on how we can keep America safe for all our people.” He went on, “I believe that if common sense prevails, we can get beyond wedge issues and stale political debates to find a sensible, intelligent way [to confiscate guns].”-[source]

Scandal along the U.S. – Mexico border continues to plague the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and is raising eyebrows on Capitol Hill.

When Border Patrol agent Brian Terry was shot and mortally wounded in a gun battle about 10 miles from the Mexico border in Arizona in December, 2010, it appeared to be yet another example of Mexico drug gang violence spilling over the border. But as more and more information from the crime scene leaked out, disturbing evidence also pointed to serious wrongdoing at the ATF.

Since 2005, the ATF has been involved in an initiative called “Project Gunrunner.”

Under this plan, ATF was to trace the flow of guns supposedly trafficked by straw purchasers in the U.S. to across the border into Mexico. When concerned firearms dealers, fearing the guns were being sent into Mexico, contacted ATF, they were instructed to proceed with the questionable and illegal sales to suspected straw buyers.

The mismanagement and botched oversight of “Gunrunner” has led to what has become known as the “Gunwalker” scandal.-[source]

For Aaron, a love of G-d and a love of freedom were inextricably blended. Aaron’s fervent embrace of liberty, his deep and introspective nature, his remarkable intelligence, his unyielding conscience, and his compassionate wisdom, made him a man amongst men.

He was revered by many of us. Not just admired, he was revered. Those of us who were fortunate enough to work with him also felt unfeigned affection towards him. A very serious man, sometimes a strict task master, he was also blessed with a marvelously droll sense of humor.

Many people’s lives were changed for the better after contact with Aaron, even by a single phone call, or by reading something he had written. Aaron had a way of encouraging the best in us. He had a way of making us each feel that we had a vital and specific role in this mission we call freedom, this miraculous experiment called America.-[source]

The proposal was included in the Federal Register and specifically calls for firearm retailers to report multiple sales, or other dispositions, of two or more .22 caliber or larger semi-automatic rifles that are capable of accepting a detachable magazine and are purchased by the same individual within five consecutive business days.

“It’s not just the new rule gun advocates object to, it’s the presumption that buying multiple guns is a questionable activity that ought to be monitored,” said Rehberg, a member of the Second Amendment Task Force. “We cross a line when the federal government starts keeping tabs on citizens who are exercising their Constitutional rights in a completely legal manner. This isn’t about partisanship or politics – this is about standing up for liberty.”-[source]

Currently, large sectors of the U.S. economy have collapsed, consumer confidence is at a historic low, Democrats control the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government, and they’re poised to print “bailout and infrastructure” money on the theory of “trickle up poverty” — risking a prolonged recession followed by hyperinflation and/or a protracted depression.

Or does the latter “risk” constitute their real plan?

If there is an economic recovery any time soon, it will be the result of private sector initiatives and a consumer confidence recovery, not the redistribution of a few trillion dollars among friends as directed by the “community organizer” in the White House.

But can consumer confidence overcome Barack Hussein Obama’s agenda? Clearly, he and his congressional cadre are using the current crisis as cover to further undermine our constitutional rule of law — in fact, they may just spend liberty out of existence — leaving the masses dependent on the state for subsistence, thus rife for the radical “change” that Obama and his ilk ultimately seek.

Yes, Obama and his Demo colleagues in the Senate and House have taken a sacred oath to “support and defend” our Constitution, but they have no history of honoring their oaths. – [source]
